The 1st Annual Strides for Strength 5K and Fun Run will be held at McDonogh School with all proceeds benefiting Giving Strength Inc and our mission to fund research grants and build awareness for the rare congenital muscular dystrophy, SELENON Related Myopathy. This rare disease mainly impacts neck and core muscle weakness, causing rigid spine, scoliosis and reduced respiratory function. Every dollar raised is so impactful for those navigating SELENON and will go directly to the top researchers in the world. Let’s get those strides in for SELENON!

TRANSFER & REFERRAL POLICY:
As we prepare for a great event in 2024, we want to be completely transparent with our policies regarding refunds, deferrals, and cancellations. If you are interested in signing up for this race, please read this section carefully prior to registering. All interested participants will be shown these policies during the registration process and must agree to adhere to them in order to be admitted to the event.
REFUNDS:
Race registration fees (and the processing charge from RunSignup) are not refundable. These funds are used to pay for race premiums, permits, supplies, staffing, and other costs incurred before, during, and after the event is held. Also, a portion of the race fee will be donated directly to Giving Strength Inc. to support their mission. To be consistent and fair to everyone, we cannot make exceptions to this policy.
DEFERRALS & TRANSFERS:
At this time, we do not offer registration deferrals to another year.
We offer the option for registrants to transfer their entry to another eligible participant up to September 11, 2024. After this deadline passes, we are unable to allow transfers as race materials have been prepped for the event. Again, to be consistent and fair to everyone, we cannot make exceptions to this policy. Registrants may transfer their entry to another registrant by going into their profile on runsignup.com and choosing "Manage Registration" next to the race.
CANCELLATION:
We know that it's important to have as much information at your disposal when making a decision whether to sign up for a race or not, and we want you to know exactly what your options will be should the 2024 in-person race not be able to take place as originally planned.
While lightning may be the most commonly thought of weather issue, there are many other conditions that could could force us to make a change to an event (high winds, flooding, snow and ice, heavy rain, public safety demands on law enforcement due to inclement weather, safety concerns on the course, etc.). Circumstances not related to weather (downed trees or power lines, local emergencies, etc.) can also impact an event. In some cases these conditions may be obvious to participants, and in others they may only be known to race officials and law enforcement.
Modifications to a race can include delaying a race start, modifying a race course, postponing a race to a later date, or canceling an event. Giving Strength Inc. reserves the right to make modifications to an event at any time, and we exercise this right in order to keep participants, vendors, public safety officers, spectators, and staff safe. While we love to race, safety is our #1 priority.
Race registration fees are non-refundable. In the event that the race needs to be rescheduled, we will provide notice of the new date and time at least 30 days in advance of race day.
